The summary script sounds great to me. Maybe just JIRA is fine here since
it's the master place holding the issue status.  JIRA supports creating
saved searches called "Filters" and you can add an email based
"Subscription" to them.  I was just exploring this option.  We could create
a saved filter and document to interested users on how to subscribe
themselves, and/or we could get the dev list subscribed for a daily summary
email.  WDYT?
