Also its very difficult to teach Jason how to play rugby by E-mail :-)

Seriously, I never know what I'm going to get from one of these things before I 
go but its always worth while. A partnership with between the Linux 
Professional Institute and INGOTs is now a real possibility which wouldn't have 
happened without me going to San Diego. I now plan to go to Canberra so what 
will come from that? Who knows, that's half the fun of doing it.

It is imperative for OOo to have a presence -- a strong one -- at
these conferences. If for no other reason than for us to collaborate
with other open source projects. All the things Jean + Ian said about
tipping points are very true as well -- but I think it's important not
to discount the value of face-to-face interaction with the greater
open source community.
