I agree with Martin here. We fast-tracked Tobago and we're having
some problems as a result. The Tobgao stuff was basically dumped into
a subproject and there it sits. The people who were clamoring for it
to be added to MyFaces haven't done anything to bring it into
alignment with the existing MyFaces code.

Don't get me wrong - the Tobago stuff looks very promising. But we
need to figure out how to integrate it into MyFaces as a full-fledged
subproject. The last thing we need is more code (even if its in the
sandbox) that isn't well integrated into the project.

There are significant code changes that were promised by Oracle way
back when we discussed this. Extensive refactoring was supposed to be
done so that the components could be brought into tomahawk and that
they would be consistent with how the existing tomahawk components
worked. If the case where the ADF way of doing things was clearly
superior, we would refactor the existing tomahawk components instead.
I am betting none of this work has happened yet. And until it does, I
am a big -1 for bringing it into MyFaces.

The ADF donation looks promising but it will require a lot of effort
from the MyFaces community to make it work. So far, the only effort I
have detected on this end is paperwork and legal discussions so that
the donation can be made. An important step to be sure but it doesn't
address the bigger challenges.

My vote is for the normal incubator process. If the necessary work to
harmonize the ADF donation with Tomahawk does not occur then I think
it should stay there. That's what the incubator is for. Its to prove
there is legitimate and *sustainable* community that will nuture the
code.

We have a lot of work ahead of us in 2006. We have a potential Maven
reorg, we are working on a MyFaces Solaris zone and we need to bring
Tobgao into the fold. Lets focus on that and see if the ADF team
holds up their end of the agreement.
