Once you get all the answers, will you then publish it (in a "statistic"
form) ?

I looked deeply into my pocket for apacheCon, but found it very expensive,
so I would really like to hear if it was worthwhile.

We have FOSDEM upcomming in europe, and many like me, may be questioning,
is that how I should spend my money ?

I think it is very important, that we get the community "floating" and gain
momentum, but has anyone thought about making events that did not cost
600,- EUR + travel/hotel etc. ??

This is just a thought, please do not take it offensive that I as a
newcomer suggest something different , but maybe it is time, we made a
OpenOffice (I do not write AOO on purpose) gathering, where developers can
talk to developers without the overhead of a big conference company !!

I used to do participate in such events, which were highly successful, so I
can only recommend it (and would be pleased to help establish such a
non-commercial event).
