Hi James,

Thanks for the tip and rapid response!

You're welcome :-)

Next start, you'll be able to use native fonts. Note that just the first start with fondu is longer (because native fonts extraction).

By "native fonts" I assume you mean those that NeoO can read but Mac OOo can't?

OpenOffice.org can use every Apple font. Just some extensions are not available, since Apple does not authorize hinting ( yes, for patent reason :-/ ) with freetype.

Software Patents are bad one more time.

There are a few, among which AdineKirnberg-Script Regular,
Balerina-Normal, Aristrocrat and Balzac Regular I really need in from Neo, especially since my recent stumble with NeoO1.1 puts it out of action (see topic "Clicking Menu Bar Makes NeoO1.1 Quit").

Sorry, no idea

I installed Fondu then restarted my Mac then re-installed Mac OOo 2.0r3 and apparently it converted a majority of NeoO fonts

These fonts are just native Apple fonts, found in /System/Library/Fonts and in /Library/fonts

, but nowhere near all
the fonts available in my Font Book, but that's alright; there's just around ten critical ones I need.

Ok, I have understood : you have installed these important fonts in another place than in /System/Library/Fonts and /Library/fonts. If necessary, I can help you directly (my address is valid).

2 solutions :

Common : delete .fondudone first

In a terminal, just enter :
sudo rm -f /Applications/OpenOffice.org\ 2.0/Contents/openoffice.org/share/fonts/truetype/.fondudone

Or maybe, if you are using m133 :
sudo rm -f /Applications/OpenOffice.org2.0/Contents/openoffice.org/share/fonts/truetype/.fondudone

First solution :

copy *all* your necessary additional fonts in /Library/Fonts
restart OpenOffice.org 2.0 -> all fonts should be available

Second solution (less simple, and needs more time) :
give me the dir where your additional fonts are, and I'll send you a new applescript to make them available.

Still, be nice to have Fondu flag a
user of fonts it can't convert for some reason or other to kill uncertainty.

Your feedback is very important for us : already some requests have been done, and your new one let me think that we now have enough informations to propose something really efficient for all users.

I have ideas ... stay tuned :-)

I'll be glad when OOo automatically runs a Fondu-like
program upon installation and maybe even as a option of auto-converting any downloaded new fonts which land in your Font book because regular non-techie type normal folks would find this whole font conversion process intimidating.

I can provide you such script (let me sme time), and if you are interested, you'll be my tester.

There doesn't appear to be any real change in Courier 12 or if there's any it's too slight to notice, however there's a pleasant marked change in other fonts; a noticeable smoothing.

ok

 Also, Courier font sizes larger
than 12 seem to more resemble Courier as it's meant to be, though any smoothing is not as evident as it is in other fonts.

ok

 The Courier 12
version in OOo looks more "blocky" and angular than normal, resembling the "digital" numbers found the bottom of bank checks. It's really ugly. Maybe I just have a bad version of Courier, so I'm on a Courier hunt.

Could you send me screenshots (directly), please ?
For patents reasons, I'm not sure we can make this available, excepted using native font server (will need some time).

Regards,
eric bachard
