I've been assigned some tests for a new build. Downloaded & installed
just fine. I have a TCM log-in and can get in just fine. Understand
all the instructions re what to test, but do not understand a couple
of things about the fields in TCM and the choices I'm supposed to
make in them:
Reading your questions again, it seems you are at the wrong screen.
Did you go to Test Case Maintenance after login? If yes, you are
actually editing / translating the test case descriptions.
To do the tests and file the rsults the correct way was as follows:
- login to TCM and go to Test Result Update
- You should see a list Builds you have tests assigned (at least one
entry) choose the link to the Build number
- now you should see your test assignments. Click on the links in
Column U (list of untested cases) or T (list of all assigned tests)
Thank you Andre.
Testing for m178 is not open, but a later build soon will be.
Testing for 2.0.3rc7 is still open and will be until the 15th of August.
I have assigned the Base set of tests to him.
OK, now I am thoroughly confused but grateful for the heads-up and
that I hadn't actually messed anything up yet by editing the actual
test cases instead of entering my results. But the screens I see do
not correspond to what Andre has written. And I have no idea what the
"open" status of a suite of tests has to do with what route I'm
supposed to follow in order to enter resuilts.
Indeed I clicked the Test Case Maintenance, I could swear those were
the original instructions given me.
The first page i see is a menu of 6 choices:
1. Test Case Maintenance
2. Test Scenario Maintenance
3. Test Report
4. Test Report Template Maintenance
5. Test Result Update
6. Set Password
If I click Test Case Maintenance, indeed I see only one build listed:
1 OpenOffice.org - Office Suites(2.0)
and when I click on the link I see a list of test cases relevant to
my assignment, to test Base
.
But if I click Test Case Update as per Andre's suggestion, I see a
different version listed:
1 OpenOffice.org(2.0.3 RC),
and clicking on the link produces a list of
Meanwhile, I was supposed to test m178, I thought.
If there is any chance that someone could inadvertently edit actual
test cases instead of entering results, then IMO testing is NOT
ready for end-users!! This end-user is already frothing at the mouth
hoping to complete my assignment but could someone please post the
definitive instructions for me. I mean end-user instructions for
someone completely unfamiliar with the TCM system & site. as in #1,
click on this #2 click on that
thanks,
kazar
(a she, btw)
