Hi,

OK, now I am thoroughly confused but grateful for the heads-up and that I hadn't actually messed anything up yet by editing the actual test cases instead of entering my results. But the screens I see do not correspond to what Andre has written. And I have no idea what the "open" status of a suite of tests has to do with what route I'm supposed to follow in order to enter resuilts.
The "open" status was just relevant for James to assign you the 2.0.3 RC test case.

Indeed I clicked the Test Case Maintenance, I could swear those were the original instructions given me.
I don't think you caused any harm. I'ts better to do mistakes instead of doing nothing. By doing mistakes we are at least able to learn. What we have learned is, that TCM needs better instructions.

...

If I click Test Case Maintenance, indeed I see only one build listed:

1 OpenOffice.org - Office Suites(2.0)
One Product in this Case. TCM is able to handle several products. (It is used by the Open Solaris team as well and can handle Evolution, Firefox ... there). It's not that relevant for us, but might help to get an idea how TCM works.

and when I click on the link I see a list of test cases relevant to my assignment, to test Base

.

But if I click Test Case Update as per Andre's suggestion, I see a different version listed:

1 OpenOffice.org(2.0.3 RC),

and clicking on the link produces a list of
List of? Sorry, it is hard to me to imagine, what you see. I'm a end user only as well.

Meanwhile, I was supposed to test m178, I thought.

If there is any chance that someone could inadvertently edit actual test cases instead of entering results, then IMO testing is NOT ready for end-users!!
I revoked the rights to edit test cases. So you shouldn't see Test Case maintenance anymore.

This end-user is already frothing at the mouth hoping to complete my assignment but could someone please post the definitive instructions for me. I mean end-user instructions for someone completely unfamiliar with the TCM system & site. as in #1, click on this #2 click on that

*sigh* .. will try to do. But I'd be happy to get some help form the TCM-Team. (As said I'm just an end user as you .. ok, end user with special rights)

BTW: There is a help screen on most of the pages. At least for the
main screen.

Andre
