<sigh/> Of course you don't have the power to tell others what they should work on, the same way as others cannot tell you what you should work on. You have power wrt. the decision though by providing a solution that speeds things up. Of course this will require quite an amount of work. And if you say: Why should *I* spend my time on it? then you should ask as well: Why should /they/ spend their time on it? (esp. when that other party doesn't share your vision that changing from A to B would really give the benefit you expect.
