Since there are every now and then debates about what should and should
not be at the main page, I was just elaborating on what this request
would mean to the main page... but well... you didn't consider it at all :)

I would be happy to see a <orange> "get openoffice.org unstable m212"
button besides / close to the green "get openoffice.org stable 2.1"
(Replace orange with your favorite color for developer content).
Let's try it on the download.ooo page and reconsider this solution for
the home page later.

Well, your e-mail seemed to be more written from a developers/QA
perspective, especially since I read your first e-mail as a request for
putting another button on the main page... which is always tricky... and
that would thus be a conflict between more dev vs. end-user ... a
typical discussion here. But I think it is clear now :)
IIRC Christian said that as soon as we have a suitable "developer
landing page" we could link to it from the home page.
I think we could add a blue button "developers" below "native language"
and "new users".
The page I would link to could evolve from
http://website.openoffice.org/tryouts/st/development/
and replace http://development.ooo
