I'll try to trace IEs behaviour. It should not happen.

Can't reproduce that.

There is another issue...

The paddings (and margins) for the tabs (the main nav AND the top tabs)
should be specified in em, not pixel. And the background-images should
cater for at least double the standard font size. This is to allow
different font sizes, particularly "page zooming". And it will also
solve the pixel differences that i apparently have with Ivan, probably
because i'm in Linux?
