We propose to open up the applications module in CVS for 3rd party (that is: non community-mainatined) applications or components.

In short i have two points against the vote in it's current form: - it is about opening up /mmbase/applications for third party applications; and - we need to vote about every addition.

During the shout match i (also) proposed to create the opportunity to add third part source to cvs. But my original idea was not to open up the applications module, but to add a new directory next to 'speeltuin' with the name 'applications'. 'speeltuin' as i see it is a place for demo's, proofs of concept and the like. And not for full grown applications.

Why? Because there are applications like MMBob that live in 'speeltuin' that should get a 'better status' (sorry, don't know a better formulation). There are a lot of people working on this project together that need a cvs. This can be a first step in creating an infrastructure within MMBase to open up and to facilitate development. But more steps are needed.

How? With the same set of rules that apply to speeltuin and MMBase's cvs as a whole. Committors have a responsibility as a committor not to misuse cvs.

I'm in favour of opening up cvs, but different.
