I think there is little point in 2 modules with more or less the same goal, namely mmbase applications.
There would be 2 kind of such applications, which IMHO only differ in status, which is an ignorable difference in the technical viewpoint. It would only make things more complex.
Yes, from a technical viewpoint there is an ignorable difference. But i wish to propose a solution for a more organizational matter, as is becoming clear from all the discussion the vote is triggering.
If there would come too much such subdirs in applications, we could split it up later (but even then you could wonder why). But for the moment the problem is the inverse, there come too few. I don't like solving a problem which does not exist, or at least at the moment is imaginary.
More steps are needed, but lets take this one step at the time. And i think it would be a good (baby)step.
