Likewise, but also for stability reasons. Since ext3 is built on top of an already rock solid file system (and fully backward compatible to boot) it seems to be the logical choice. XFS's big drawcard is supporting ACLs, but the stability issue is the most important. > I also think that it will be a bit harder making it work on kernel 2.2. > Maybe 2.4 (taken directly from redhat) will be quicker. My read from the RedHat ext3-user mailing list is that there are serious problems with ext3 running on a software RAID system under the 2.2 kernels. >From what I understand, it has something to do with both software RAID and the ext3 extension both trying to strictly control disk access. -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org
