At this point I would suggest that you take the discussion OFF THE LIST and
provide your own resources to develop an Asian competitor to OpenSRS.

Please understand, I'm not knocking the idea, but I think it inappropriate
to use OpenSRS's facilities (the list, their RSPs, etc) to recruit people to
develop a competing registrar. If you want to do it, do it with your own
resources. And best of luck to you...really.

Yeah, I am :)

Here is my suggestion to improve your idea a bit.

Why not we create an "Asian" OpenSRS, fully accredited by ICANN and
sells domains to its members at the NSI Registry wholesale fee itself -
$6 per domain ?

Every member will share the annual ICANN Accreditation fee (USD5000)
equally, so each will pay USD50 annually (assuming we can get 100
members).

This organization could be incorporated like ICANN, as a non-for-profit,
tax-exempt corporation, preferablly called the Open SRS, Pte. Ltd.

I am in Singapore, btw.

I agree with you that at Asian (Indian, Singaporean, Malaysian,
Philippines, etc) prices and services, U.S. corporations like Tucows can
be easily put out of business.

As stated above, I do not mind helping others setup a "new" Open SRS to
compete with Tucows, and other ICANN Registrars.

Agree?

Thank you,
Bruce
