snapNames

I'm new to the reseller busines so if this is an uninformed question,
forgive me.  Why can't I or any other reseller implement a snapNames like
service for any domain name and use scheduled tasks to obtain the names in
question since the item would be pre-paid.

I'm not completely certain I understand the issue of "sockets" yet...since I
have yet to go live.
