<shakes his head> How can I get one of these cushy jobs in pseudo government
like CIRA, make all the policies on a whim with total impunity, when they all
blow up just make more policies and not really have to answer to anyone? Sounds
like a pretty good gig!

The municipal exclusions are a bit of a sore point because many of them belong
to places in Canada that I doubt would ever even consider a domain name in this
lifetime. On top of that why can't the exclusion just be on the provincial
level and not affect the CCTLD? It's a good thing that Dildo, Nova Scotia (or
was it Newfoundland?) renamed itself not too long ago or the person who owns
Dildo.ca wouldn't be able to get it! :) (The domain name that is...)

While normal registrations at the provincial level being setup to force first
right of refusal to people registering top level .CA domains has a case to be
argued (not sure I agree but still) telling people they can never register a TLD
because a sub-domain may want to be registered in the unknown future seems a
little unfair. I don't believe there's any mechanism for these little burghs to
approve a domain being registered at the top level.

And in other CIRA ineptness news I think we should run a contest to see how many
CIRA election announcement emails people on this list get. Can these people not
do some sort of listserv? I mean getting an exact duplicate email for every
single domain I have registered at the .CA level is a ridiculous waste of
bandwidth and mailserver time. Of course... when you're pseudo governmental
what's money and efficiency besides a totally foreign concept? :)
