It would also mean if the RSP is having a temporary outage, it would affect the ability of registrants to manage their domains during that outage.
Again, it SHOULD be rare, but try explaining that to a customer who's RSP has been down 2-3 days due to connectivity problems or whatnot. Personally, I can see it being a bit of a support nightmare in some ways.
