If it does not help a business to be listed then why not just all resellers on one huge searchable list?
Then everybody can share what little benefit that does or does not exist while putting this issue to bed. This issue keeps creating dissension on the list and creates disgruntled resellers who believe they are being shortchanged while paying the higher price of being an OpenSRS reseller. Or make two searchable lists. One for large resellers and one for all the rest. Then the client can decide what size organization they wish to utilize and everybody is happy, as everybody is listed and the client is happy because they have full freedom of choice. We are not listed nor are we concerned about it. I did not think we had ever received a referral from OpenSRS but after checking the records I found we received one referral in 2001 from OpenSRS. That client is still with us. But I also realize that our core business is hosting, not domain registration. We make very little off domain registration as we price it extremely low and offer transfers at cost just to advertise our hosting business. If the core business is domain registration and other OpenSRS products I can understand why this issue is considered vital and important to those who are requesting they once again be listed. I can also understand the OpenSRS position as most business provide extra awards or incentives to those that generate the most business for them. ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Kirikos" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, January 12, 2003 11:50 PM Subject: Re: Future of Tucows/OpenSRS > Hello, > > --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > The honest truth is that the referral list doesn't really help in any > > way. > > It's not going to bring you any business in 2003 if you are listed. > > I agree...I think the only way it would help folks is that it might > give them a higher Google Pagerank, being linked from an "important" > site such as Tucows.com, etc. (i.e. links from pages with a high > pagerank help your own pagerank). > > Sincerely, > > George Kirikos > http://www.kirikos.com/ >
