I meant to send this to the list as well ;)

Cheers

Marc,

Be weary of the source. I have heard quite the opposite from PIR, namely
that they will be supporting IDN's in 2004. Unless something has changed
since I last spoke to them. I'll get the skinny from the source and give you
all an official update shortly.

Cheers,

James

Subject: Multilingial .ORG domains deleted?

It seems that PIR has announced that it will DELETE all multilingual .ORG
names on February 2004. Why does nobody tell the registrants of these
domains about it? Or us, resellers who sold these things.

PIR has been wavering about these domains, as I pointed out earlier on this
list (and elsewhere). Now they are going to kill them alltogether. I think
this is more than bad, esp. since the do this in (near?) secrecy. I see
nothing about it on their website and had to learn about it from a
newsletter from another registrar.

I would appreciate some comment and clarification from Tucows.

Below the news item from a German newsletter from dd24.net:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
PIR wird multilinguale .ORG Domains nun doch lschen
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

ernannte Zentralregister fr .ORG Domains, Public Interest Registry (PIR),
"RACE-Verfahren" eingetragenen multilingualen .ORG Domains (also Domains mit
Umlauten bzw.
