I think

1. there is no doubt that getting feedback on working software is  
better than a sketch (putting aside the cost of creating working  
software, just saying if you could magically create it with no effort)
2.  in the not too distant future tools will exist that allow us to  
"sketch" working software.   thermo is a step in this direction.

so, IMO, there may be a lot of arguments about whether sketching is  
better than prototyping and vice versa, but they are going to get  
much closer together whether people like it or not, and I think this  
argument will be academic sooner rather than later.

I mean, now that  people can do 3D models of architecture, and  
walkthrough visualizations, is there a big constituency maintaining  
that blueprints and artist renderings are the way to go?
