I agree completely, but I'm fairly certain our policy is not to post
salary ranges.  I'll bring that up with management and see if they're
willing to post it.  I know they have a range in mind, but I also know
we've been willing to go above and beyond that range as needed if we
find the right candidate.

Its also a bit complicated by the fact that we're looking in multiple
regions.  We could hire this position in two or three offices with
widely variant cost of living, and we pay accordingly.  We'd prefer to
hire the position in Pittsburgh, PA, as thats pretty much the IT
headquarters, but if we were to hire in another office we'd pay more.

Hmm.  I might go post the job on craigslist myself, since there is a
referral bonus if an existing employee finds the candidate we hire. :)
