First, I don't much care whatever the name of the title will be for whomever is in this role. I originally wasn't suggesting "activist" as a noun, describing the name of any proposed position. I was using it as an adjective to describe the activity or purpose for this aspect or this wing of LOPSA.
As such, I still prefer "advocacy" as the adjective describing the activity in question. As far as naming the position within LOPSA, or establishing that position at all, I still think we're leaping at a solution before we even have a firm grasp on the _specifics_ of what the problem might be. As Tom noted: "LOPSA does have a problem with spreading itself too thin...." For that reason, I think it's very important we focus on clearly defining the problem before we pat ourselves on the back and hand out a flashy new title to some poor schlep who _still_ doesn't know exactly what results he or she is supposed to deliver. (...also, I only said "...results he is supposed to deliver." in the original reply, which was a gaff. My apologies to anyone that might have been offended by my failure to use gender inclusive phrasing.) _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
