What happened?

A lot of people don't care about security.  They say "I don't have anything
on there I care about."  and then I say, "Yeah, but if somebody breaks in
and uses your computer to distribute illegal stuff, then the FBI seizes your
equipment as evidence and you don't get it back."

But I've never known of that happening to anyone first hand.  Am I just
perpetuating a myth?

So ... What did they do?
