Seems, our days of being a professional sysadmin are numbered. Our CIO says his peers are using the hire 50 monkeys approach to not being able to find and afford to pay for 1 qualified individual.
So, we can hire 1 qualified person...and the rest of us go look for new jobs. Or we find some monkeys to hire, and burn them out every couple of years and be worse off than we are now. And, wonder why we're still here. Plus he thinks Unix is a dead operating system. Problem is that our institution doesn't produce any monkeys remotely capable of figuring anything sysadmin out. Though I forget if institutions like us are supposed to teach problem solving, or assume.... Our student admin positions have been vacant for a couple of years now. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
