We quickly run into mailing list hell. We have to be careful with how many we create.
We have *a lot* of special-purpose lists that are basically completely unused. And it could get hard for people - especially new members - to know which ones to subscribe to or use. Adding one more for this special purpose - as mak suggested - is probably okay. But I'd be *very* cautious about adding more.
