Well, I guess it comes down to the purpose if the list. (shrugging) What I don't understand is this urge for openness. We are a private club: I'm happy we want to be open with members, but I feel no requirement to be open with non-members.
Yes, Ace is right. The comment is frequently made face-to-face, which is prudent, I suppose... But to me, the point of any mailing list is to be able to talk about stuff without having to meet face-to-face.
