I installed and started using AlienBBC with my squeezebox (rev 1) for the first time tonight. I got everything to work ok, except all BBC streams constantly drain the buffer, resulting in a ~5 second hiccup every 20 seconds or so. If I play the same stream using mplayer from the command line this doesn't occur. Any ideas of what I can do to remedy this? Any more information I can provide that will be helpful?
I've had this problem on my Mac using AlienBBC 0.97, but need to try some more to see if it is a one-off. I was doing some other stuff at the time, and thought it might be a computer issue. I don't think I had problems with older versions of AlienBBC and SlimServer, but haven't been using the newer versions long enough to see if the problem is frequent.
One thought that occurs to me. I'll check on my system. Did you have a browser window open to the SlimServer page? This window automatically refreshes fairly often (I guess so that it can be up-to-date with what is currently playing). I have a vague feeling that this refreshing takes up most of SlimServer's attention, and may be the cause of the dropouts.
