In the short term 1yr it does the job and you would only need to plug gaps that are proprietary code. Longer term if there is enough interest its worth moving to something completely shiny. There is so much code in LMS it cant all be bad :) apart from the web interface stuck in the 1990s Bluetooth connectivity would be nicer than Infrared, devices could then be out of sight.
