I would select the music from any device, depending where I am. I am sitting in front of the computer that would be definitely the computer :-) otherwise most likely iPod or iPad. >From my experience with squeezebox, the value which I value the most is the "time to music". I have upgraded my NAS and now I have fairly good performances when browsing the menu but still browsing is not the fastest way to access the music. Sometimes I just have have a song in the head, and I like to listen to it instantly...not browsing to a long menu while in a meantime I know where it is - it's just that I don't have any shortcut which I can use. You can also compare with google. Google is even not using faceted search but their basic adress and search bar in Chrome is pretty intelligent. If I want to access a site which I access often, I never use the favorites (which is a kind of static browsing) but instead I type the first letter (or the first two letters) and I'm there. I wonder if that takes in account how often you go to the site but that works well. I would imagine the same for accessing the music. Maybe a basic but intelligent search (the hits coming first being the one mostly played) would be enough for a smartphone interface and bigger devices offering the facets to refine the search even more, or to offer additional exploring capabilities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chrobrego's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15230 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98467 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
