Can't speak for other nas, but Synology still provides a package in
their Package Center. Its just a 1 click install. It runs pretty smooth
on all current models (some lower models do have limitations), and is
solid as a rock!
Synology does not update packages that much. They build new 'more or
less' up to date packages with a new major release of DSM, the OS of
Synology.
