I used to run LMS on a Zyxel NSA310 NAS, and then Spotify changed its delivery method. The NSA310 processor couldn't run the script for running Spotty (Michael Herger's Spotify app), so another means of running LMS was required. I eventually settled on a RasPi, with my local library still on the NSA310. It runs like a dream :D Updates are a breeze to implement, and the really nice thing is that 3rd party streaming services do not require the NAS, so it sleeps while I'm streaming from Spotify.
