Sean, the music is not stored on a Mac. It is stored on a LinkStation
that feeds streams to iTunes via mt-daapd and to Squeezebox via
SlimServer. Native AAC support would be a benefit because then my music
could be stored on the server (LinkStation) as AAC and then streamed to
iTunes and Squeezebox natively with no decoding on the server (which
has very limited horsepower). In my experience, AAC yields higher
quality sound than MP3 at a given bit rate. So to me, that is a big
benefit to having AAC support in the Squeezbox firmware. And the Roku
therefore has an advantage over the Squeezebox in this regard.
