That wasn't my intention, so I will apologize to all before it is taken
that way.  I am still searching for a sensible offering but no one seems
to be able to fill the criteria of the original poll question.

Many people hook their Squeezeboxes up to a receiver to replace their
CD player.  Most receivers possess at least some sort of basic
tone/bass control to help personalize the sound of their music.  I
don't know about you, but I can't stand a flat, non-eq'd audio source
when I am listening for enjoyment.

If I were a mastering tech in the studio, sure - but not when I want to
feel the thundering bass of Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks"!
