I recently could not receive my SN password - I have a Hotmail account - and noticed people with Yahoo have had similar experiences. Nothing in the junkbox etc. When I emailed technical support through the website I received a very prompt response as I always have and the issue was solved immediately. I have never ordered directly from SD but when I once had a defective remote they were very proactive in offering to replace it and far more concerned about customer service than exact warranty stipulations.
