This is a hard one.

I've gone on interviews where the major questions were obscure failure
situations they encountered several years and several OS/hardware
revisions back, or (my favorite), "which commands would you run on the
very-important-production-database-server to optimize it?"

I didn't get the job in the second one, because my response was "none
that haven't been tested in development".
