If you're going to be looking at doing any work with the government the CISSP is quickly becoming the minimum requirement for a senior position. Currently, US DoD Directive 8570 [1] mandates certain requirements on a 3 three level system for "Information Assurance functions within the DoD workforce". The definition of what is an information assurance function is currently being defined pretty broadly to include anyone with administrator or super-user access to a DoD information system. Once you start in the position you have 6 months to get the cert or they'll toss you out the door. I'm starting to see RFPs and contracts that are specifying that every senior system administrator must be an level 3 which means you need a CISSP or equivalent plus a technology certification (RHCE, MSCE, CCNE, etc.). I wouldn't be surprised if the same sort of requirements get pushed to the Federal government as a whole in the next few years. Personally, I'll probably be looking into getting mine sometime soon. -Anthony [1] http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/857001m.pdf _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
