You don't need to type things in word on the mac. Apple messed up when
they did this, but they called text edit an editor. It isn't, it's a word
processor and more importantly for windows refugees it is able to save
documents in word format.

First thing you should do with your Mac is...
Forget everything you ever knew about JAWS. This knowledge (and trying to
make corrolations with what you already know) will do nothing but slow you
down and make you feel the Mac is not a productive environment for you.
The next thing you should do (after you've forgotten everything you ever
knew about JFW) is go through the Voiceover tutorial and learn about ten
Voiceover commands. Then you can start to actually get some productive use
out of your Mac.
Then, wait anxiously for Leopard, because it promises to have even more
better Voiceover.
