Hello Anne,
Thanks for the suggestions. I don't know if you've had a chance to
read my other e-mails regarding Safari, but I've never had trouble
navigating web pages with Safari 2. It's only since I upgraded to
Safari 3 that I've encountered navigational problems. In particular,
I find that (a) the cursors go to different places, even though I
have cursor preferences set in VO utilities so that the keyboard
focus and mouse cursor will follow the VO cursor and (b) VO skips
some of the content when I use the left and right arrows to navigate.
I find perplexing that these problems should have begun after I
updated to Safari 3. I am using an iBook g4, which is a power pc
machine, so maybe that has something to do with the problem.
Anyway, I appreciate your suggestions.
Cordially,
Rafael

Hello Rafael,
I've had a look at npr.org and it is a busy site. Have you tried
reading the whole page by positioning yourself on "HTML Content"
and then pressing whatever hotkey you've set for "Speak Selected
Text".
Once the page has been read to you, you can select links by
pressing VO-u to get the Link Chooser Menu, or items by using the
Item Chooser Menu (VO-i).
The Link Chooser Menu gave me 265 links. To select a link, type a
few letters of the name of the link you want, then press Return.
You will be on the link. The same applies to the Item Chooser Menu.
With Grouping turned on, lock the VO keys (VO-Semi-colon) and use
down arrow to read through an article paragraph by paragraph.
Don't forget to unlock VO keys when you're done.
Cheers,
Anne
