Hi Christian. Don't know if this might help you? Haven't been able to
follow the thread completely so maybe this has already been suggested.
When I went into the Apple shop to try out some stuff, I found that
the new keyboards had a totally different layout. The fn key isn't
where it is on a laptop i.e bottom left, instead it is in the numpad
block, can't remember exactly which one it was, but it certainly
didn't seem to be in a very intuitive place for me. I think it was
something like second one down from the top left? I think your volume
controls are hardwired into fn plus the function keys 10-12. See if
you can get someone to confirm where the fn key is precisely and try
the combination. I don't think you can change the behaviour of the
functions from within the keyboard preferences pane because the new
ones seem to be hardwired. I have the 'use function keys' setting on
in the preferences on the macbook pro, and the internal keyboard
behaves as it should, but the new wireless still has the default
behaviour. The wireless one isn't the same layout as the fixed
alluminum keyboard and is more like a laptop style with slight
differences. The volume on the wireless is fn plus f10-12 with fnf10
being mute, fnf11 =vol down and fnf12 = vol up. Whereas of course the
volume controls on the macbook keyboard is fn and f3-5. Hope this is
of some help.

Cheers

Thuy
