Thanks, and your later message sort of confirmed my suspicion.  Had I known 
you weren't shut down, we could have gone with that.  You would still have 
had a divel of a time though.  Now, to shut down, press power, just tap it, 
press enter.  if you want to restart, press power, tap it, press space.

I bought my Macbook two days ago with Tiger installed. In the box I found a
copy of Leopard which I installed last night with a sighted friend and
followed the onscreen instructions. It installed all right and even updated
itself. The only thing I did in Tiger was to adjust VO settings like the fn
key function, cursor tracking and so on, registration etc. Leopard seems to
have recognised these I guess because at the update process I was asked for
my password so Leopard must have taken it from Tiger. I was at that stage
not using VO because a sighted friend was helping me install Leopard and you
know it gets on sighted people's nerves to have our technology going.
