Hi Shane,
1. When you are done with a program and want to get rid of it, how do you get it off your hard drive?
• simply navigate to the program or file you wish to remove then press cmd+Delete (that's the Delete up on the top row). Note, I wouldn't suggest removing Apple pre-installed apps, just the third party ones you no longer need.
2. Speaking of installation, what is the proper procedure for installing new programs and getting rid of the downloaded file?
• Normally, just follow the installation package prompts and everything will handle itself. Occasionally, some apps just ask you to place them in the Applications folder. Administrator access is required and that is a safety thing so that unwanted installs cannot happen. To get rid of the download or install package, simply move it to the Trash using the method outlined above.
3. How do I select text in TextEdit, or in a list view?
• In TextEdit, hold down your shift key while pressing any of the arrow keys and things will be highlighted. There are certain key combinations that will highlight by word, end or beginning of line and end or beginning of document. They are noted in the VO help area or I can send you to a web location if you'd like.
These are all for now, but if I could ask more in a future message, I would be grateful for your help. I am finding the Mac to be fantastic, and I have not touched Windows since getting this new computer. Any and all help you can provide will be most appreciated.
• Ask away, we'll do our best to answer. Later... Tim Kilburn & Carter the Canine Fort McMurray, AB Canada
