JM: Also, I don't see Cacophony anymore. I must have deleeted it at
shutdown last night> Dang.

TK: I believe it was simply ejected on shutdown. When you downloaded Cacophony, the .dmg file must have went into your Downloads folder within your Home directory and the disk image was automatically mounted thus putting the item on your Desktop. Because it was just an image, it would have been ejected upon logout or shutdown. The best way to fix this is to remount the disk image, then copy the Cacophony item from your Desktop into your Applications folder. That is a good practice to get into anyway as apps really shouldn't be run from the Desktop.
