Note that this is a standard in unix, and just about any command you will want to use in terminal will have a corresponding man page.

You must run this in terminal and it does work. I am able to add folders and documents to the Dock but have not yet determined how to add a web address. It is not a difficult command to work with but if you're not a Terminal savvy person, I wouldn't suggest trying it.
