Thanks, as long as I can just plug my Apple keyboard/mouse (mouse is
plugged into keyboard) and just feed a cable to the Mac and to the pc
laptop, and get the same functionality (other than swapped keys on the
windows side) then I'm happy.
tnx

Hi,
I've been quite happy with my KVMs from I/O Gear. I have a two and
a four port switch. The four port switch is nice because it also
does audio in and audio out. I've run it with 2 PCs and 2 Macs,
although now its 1 PC and 3 Macs.
My setup is about four years old, so the video adapter is only VGA,
but I know newer models do support digital video signals. It's just
a matter of looking at the feature chart.
The KVM does present a phantom keyboard and mouse to the connected
computers, but I actually don't use that feature. I go through the
the standard USB ports since it really didn't recognize my Mac
keyboards. If you're confused about this, there are two special USB
ports on the KVM that are meant for the keyboard and mouse. The KVM
fakes the connectivity of a keyboard and mouse to the non active
computer so it doesn't go USB crazy. However, the keyboard did not
support the keys on my Mac keyboard, so I suffer from slow flipping
between computers. A second or two. I can live with it.
Anyway, I highly recommend I/O Gear KVMs and they do come with all
cables which is a plus.
Best,
Scott
Folks, I'm wanting to purchase a KVM switch. What I'm looking for
is one that will allow me to use my Mac keyboard with my iMac and
my employer's windows laptop. I know many will accommodate both
Macs and PCs, but I was not sure about the functionality with the
keyboard. I don't care if the windows key and alt key are reversed
for example, but I want all the other keys to function normally.
So, if anyone has any advice on which KVM will do the job or knows
whether the keyboard is mapped correctly, I'd appreciate it.
tnx
