Clarke,
One of the items that I always found helpful in Eclipse based environments
is the separation of your workspace from your project folders.

For local development, the issue is more laissez faire (let it be). For
shared workspaces, project folders can be located on both local and remote
systems. Some shared workspaces are used kind of like a template for
setting up connections, visual placement of development tools and custom
deployments of toolsets for new team members or disaster recovery.

Another value of having them separate is sahred your Flex project itself.
Flex builder allows you to create an archive of your project and then you
can shared that project in its entirety. Obviously, you can just go to the
file system and do that same thing or have all of the code in a code
repository for code check out of remote workspaces.

The Adobe videos allude to that paradigm by suggesting separation, but
perhaps not the purpose or benefit in any great detail.
