There's usually a section where you can get the debug version of the
player when a new player comes out. Just don't install the main one on
the adobe.com site. You sometimes have to do a little digging to be sure
to get the debug version which is the one you want.
It's not a good idea to stick with the one they give with flex builder
since several versions of the flash player do come out between release
versions of flex builder.

Hoard's suggestion is something that I do myself when testing new
Flex Builder updates. I tend to make sure that Flash Player is
stable prior to installing a new plug-in or stand alone.
I had that issues just yesterday when testing Flex Builder 3.0.2
on various Eclipse builds.
