Really, I think that in any technology discussion many people make the
mistake of searching for "the winner" as if there is only one. The
Mac vs PC argument has been going on for a very long time, and will
continue for a long time to come. Some are motivated by price, but
most people I know invest in a Mac or PC because it's their own
personal preference, and it's what they enjoy and feel comfortable
using. There is no single "winner" and neither is going away anytime
soon.

I think that the Flex vs __insert_technology_here__ argument is the
same. It does have a strong foothold and will continue to for some
time to come. Other technologies that compete with Flex are the same.
They will likely also be around for some time. I use Flex because it
integrates well with other products, and I enjoy developing in Flex.
It also has alot of great capabilities.

So is Flex the "right choice"? Is Flex "the winner" in the
competition? Is there a "winner"? That entire line of questioning
seems a little counter-productive to me.

When it comes to the question of investing in training (or education
in general), the question I ask is how long it will take to recoup the
cost of the training. If it costs you $2,000, how long will it take
for that training to make that $2,000 back? In my experience, if you
are putting in the effort, the skills you learn will pay you back very
well and very quickly.

Will Flex be around long enough to recoup that cost - absolutely.
