No, actually, I don't.

If you set the source and property to the text input, and set "required" to "false," then the validator will not automatically fire on focusOut.

There's where we have our confusion -- it does automatically fire whenever source and property values are set.

Give it a try and see. With 'required="false"' you can leave the field blank, sure. But 'required="false"' doesn't stop the validator from firing...

I guess I need a custom validator that takes a 'country' argument... Yuck.
