It is good to have a discussion on the possible future funding models. Especially when people have radically different viewpoints. It's good to challenge our own opinions.
I personally would support ways to promote companies using/supporting SME Server. I can understand that people want to be paid for their work, and in return I would like to think that people making money from SME Server would contribute back in either money or effort. Considering the number of people that appear to use SME Server as their business I am surprised at the small number of patches. It would be good to see this improve.
