We target independent consultants with enough skills to install a distro, but unable/unwilling to configure every detail of system components (postfix, samba, apache, hylafax, asterisk, ...). We aim at quick configuration, the user interface enables even a skilled sysadmin to obtain a working config in a fraction of the time he'd need to do it manually. Flexibility is obtained using the config db and templates. Also, being NethServer made of many specialized packages doing only one thing (the unix philosophy), its behavior could be modified changing some packages, tailoring it to the customer/reseller. I agree with you when you say that the user community can't add code, but even a non-programmer can use/test the system. We are committed to keep SME/NethServer alive, we have customers and we have resources (read programmers). We already offer a central management platform, but we plan to improve it a lot when NethServer will be out of alpha stage. I'm sure that my explanation/vision is not clear, I'm not a marketing guy, it's not easy to describe ideas in words as it'd be in code. :-) -- Ciao, Filippo _______________________________________________ Discussion about project organisation and overall direction To unsubscribe, e-mail [email protected] Searchable archive at http://lists.contribs.org/mailman/public/discussion/
